Trinket #93 - River Town Cemetery Earrings

I've spent the last few days in lovely Lynchburg, Virginia, a city on the James River about three hours west of Richmond. I had a chance today to really explore some of the historic sections of town and to pay a visit to Old City Cemetery, a burial ground unlike any other I've ever visited. The age span of the grave markers and the variety of stone from which they were made created a surreal history and geology lesson wrapped into one. Their rough textures, weathered inscriptions, and lichen-covered faces were the inspiration for today's trinket.
