Trinket #362 - Lucky Bracelet

I remembered these charms that I picked up on a clearance sale about three months ago and finally put them to use today. This was a quick and easy (but hefty) project that was assembled using a pre-fab bracelet and some oval jump rings. In all, the construction took about five minutes.

Trinket #129 - Silky Red Bracelet

Long before the recent resurgence of Kabbalah symbolism, the red bracelet was used by many cultures for luck, protection, and to deflect the evil eye. Today, I added one to my arsenal of charms because I've got a lot of good things cooking and I know how haters work.

It's on a Coke bottle just because.

Trinket #100 - Lucky Necklace

Well, instead of going big for the first triple-digit trinket, I decided instead to make a superstitious investment in the future of the project - a lucky charm. The necklace is all silver so that it goes with everything, and it has a nifty little horseshoe charm topped with a shiny 4-leaf clover. This is essentially the crafty interpretation of me crossing my fingers that I can make it until day 365!

Trinket #98 - Lucky Gambling Brooch

Yep, the first brooch of the project so far! No, I'm not a gambler, and though we joke about winning it often, we don't even play the lottery. This trinket was just a silly throw-together of whatever quirky things I could find without much hunting. I even broke out the hot glue and made this one an official Craft! In all seriousness, I do plan on picking up more pins and clips to make many fun and silly brooches in the future.

Trinket #64 - Always After Me Lucky Charms

The husband and I took a lovely drive into the Piedmont area of Virginia (Fluvanna County) today to pick up new chickens. The small flock that we had before (which I had grown way too attached to, by the way) fell victim to the perils of suburban life - two perished because of a dog, and the third to the extended 105 degree and up days of this past summer. The dog has since moved on to greener pastures and we're prepared to install misting hoses and fans outdoors this year if the excessive heat decides to make a reappearance, so there is a much-celebrated return of poultry to the Brown homestead this evening.

We took the truck on our outing, and the family generally operates by the rule that the primary driver of the vehicle determines the musical accompaniment of the voyage. Paul decided a great way to enjoy the green countryside and rolling farmland was with his rather extensive collection of Irish rebel tunes. All of those songs about dear old Ireland and its independence must have seeped into by subconscious because the bright green mother of pearl and silver clovers were the first things I grabbed from the supply stash when we got home!
