Trinket #284 - Ribbon Rose Hairpins

Quick and simple: I had some ribbon roses and attached bobby pins to them for easy fastening. Done! Honestly, I don't think I have the brainpower left today to muster up anything more. (I can't wait for October to be over...)

Trinket #251 - Leather and Copper Hair Pin

Free-form flowers are kind of my thing. I also love the combination of the brown leather with the copper wire, so this trinket is an all-around win. This leather is more scrap from that old pair of riding chaps, by the way. I'm pairing it with an old pair of campus boots and a corduroy jacket tomorrow!

Trinket #210 - Sick Day Hair Clip

Not feeling up to much else, today's trinket was made by restyling an old tropical-colored silk flower (AKA cutting it apart, taking some things out, putting it back together) and adding some hot glue. It is attached to a curved alligator clip to grab onto hair easily.

Trinket #196 - Orange Lily Pendant

Soooo tired, but I somehow still managed to put this little trinket. I went with a botanical theme because  I'm feeling the guilt about my poor, neglected garden this month. My time has been pulled in so many different directions that the plants have not had the attention they really need to do their best. ::sigh:: The flowers and leaf on this pendant are acrylic beads positioned on silver wire. A picture is worth a thousand words, which is a good thing because I'm out them...

Trinket #165 - Johnny Jump-Up Ring

This little felt flower ring was made with leftovers from one of those Martha Stewart craft kits that I bought months ago for traveling. It's construction was made at least ten times easier by my substitution of hot glue for the included fabric glue. The weather has given me the gift of a killer sinus headache today, to a quick trinket was definitely in order.

Trinket #99 - Wood Nymph Hair Clip

Another trinket in which I goof around with silk flowers and hot glue, but this time there is a little glitter, too. No real outside inspiration for this one that I can think of, I was just moved to put together these components when I came across them in the craft stash!

Also, in case you haven't noticed, tomorrow marks 100 TRINKETS. I think I'm going to have to go big for the occasion...

Trinket #72 - Felt Flower Hairpin Redux

I hate to waste things. Time, money, food - use it wisely and don't throw it away if you can help it. I had some supplies left in the felt kit I bought to take with me on my trip, so I decided to put them to good use tonight by making this lovely wine-colored hair pin!

I should be back in the swing of things tomorrow and hope to be able to sit down and put together something a bit larger and more special than I've been able to make for the past few days. Wish me luck.

Trinket #69 - Felt Flower Ring

Video blog! I'm traveling and forgot to pack my USB card reader. I can take still shots, but can't load them onto my computer. My loss is your gain - you get a fully narrated look at my flight-friendly crafting on the go.

Trinket #55 - Hydrangea Blossom Earrings

I had a rather intensive class today in landscape design, so my brain is still in plant mode. Today's trinket is the result of that "stuck" brain, but I think it turned out pretty well considering I had no idea where to begin. I did what I always do when I don't know where to start - stare into the supplies box until something looks interesting.

The acrylic leaves caught my eye first. I had intended to make some little wisteria clusters to go with them, but these leaves are so far off from wisteria that I had to take a different direction. Fortunately, these shimmery blue seed beads gave me an idea for hydrangea.

The finale - dangling earrings made with silver wire, silver chain, acrylic leaves, and glass seed beads.

Trinket #25 - Growing and Blooming

Today marked the start of my Master Gardener training and boy, was it a whirlwind. My routine of making trinkets in the late morning (at my first break of the day) will now be disrupted on Tuesdays and Thursdays and moved to evenings. This is going to be a tough obstacle for me because the pattern of "making" at the same time each day is a big help in keeping creative blocks at bay. My fingers are crossed that I can plow through until June!

The inspiration for today's piece is an easy one - I have botany on the brain. This necklace is another of those hodge-podge creations that used some beads from the bottom of the junk box, some silver wire and chain, and three frosted acrylic pansies in a fresh spring green color. I love the tones in this - they remind me of shoots breaking through the soil at the end of winter. Speaking of that, I noticed a few Trillium this morning doing that very thing. I should probably tell them that there is a lot more snow in the forecast, but I doubt they'll listen.
