Trinket #281 - Wool and Wire Bangle

This was just a trial run for an idea I had using wool and free-form wrapping of wire. I'll probably try some different variations, maybe mixing wool colors, adding larger beads, and the like. I like the sparkle of the tiny glass beads on this one, but I think I should have used a few more. Contrasting textures have sort of been my thing lately.

Trinket #249 - Wrapped Turquoise Pendant

Why? Because I love it. That, and I got a shipment of a bazillion of these ribbon and cotton cord necklaces that desperately needed some dressing up.

Trinket #215 - Copper Galaxy Ring

As luck would have it - I'm all out of silver wire. I could remedy this with a simple trip to the jewelry supply shop, but I've been buried in work up to my eyeballs and have been too busy to get out during their business hours. So, like my ancestors before me, I'm just going to use what I have in the best way I can. What I have today is copper, and the completed trinket of the day is this multi-wrapped ring.

Trinket #175 - Double Spiral Earrings

No beads were really appealing to me this evening, and I had so much fun making those free-form and quirky spirals earlier in the week that I thought I'd give it another go today. This time, I made the swirls a bit smaller and suspended one below the other. A one-ingredient trinket, these earrings are made only from silver wire.

Trinket #156 - Copper and Silver Ring

I've had this two-tone twisted wire since before this year-long project began. My husband had a great time spinning a few of these together using a power drill, and I've had them tucked away in the Junk Box to use when the spirit moved me. I guess today was that day.

This fun little ring was shaped around a lipstick tube and finished with a freeform coil at the ends to keep it from loosening. The whole thing took less than five minutes and I have enough wire left over to make one or two more in different styles!

Trinket #143 - Glass and Wire Ring

I admit it: I'm fighting some hellacious project burnout right about now. I'm not even near the halfway point yet (40 more days to go to hit that milestone) and I'm getting itchy for the year to be over and done with. My suspicion is that I underestimated the Spring/Summer workload at this homestead. Anyway, I'm trying really hard to keep moving. Any suggestions??

Trinket #11 - Tying Knots and Singing Shanties

As I mentioned in an earlier entry, I could use some practice when it comes to wire-wrapped jewelry. If you had not already noticed, each piece I've made since that post has incorporated wire wrapping in some fashion. Today's trinket was truly a challenge, but I absolutely love the result.

I decided to spend a little more time on this project because I felt like I had to rush a bit with yesterday's. As a test of both my fingers and my patience, I settled on a square knot design I played with on a pair of earrings about a week ago. They were not exactly complicated to bend, but getting the sections of the knot to interlink smoothly prompted enough expletives to make a pirate blush. If you think you're up for the task, take a look at this cool tutorial. (I made mine by wrapping the wire around a pencil instead of using the jig - saved a lot of headache this time around.)

The knots in this bracelet and the deep olive green glass - my absolute favorite color - made me think of sailors crossing the Atlantic on tall ships. I'll be sure to wear it the next time I plunder and pillage!
